After 11 years it's back.
I have been cancer free for 11 years and found out February 2nd that I have it once again. Same kind, same breast. I'm devastated. I have invasive ductal carcinoma triple negative. I will be starting chemo soon and then having a double mastectomy. I hesitated even posting here. I didn't want to upset anyone or make them lose hope. I've always been so proud of the fact that I was a long term survivor. Thanks for listening. I've been very depressed.

Hi TrishE23,
So sorry to hear that you have cancer again after all those years of being cancer free. I'm not Triple-Negative but sometimes I read posts here. I'm sure others in this thread will provide you with support. Let us know how your treatment is going, I hope it's effective.

Hi trishE, you have every reason to be proud of having been a long term TNBC survivor, you still are despite the sneaky bugger came back. We are all in this together. Here's hope to many more years!

I’m so sorry. I hope that you get rid of this one for 11 more

I know how devastating this news had to be. I got similar news just last night but I've only been Ned for 1 1/2 yrs. It's a nightmare come to life, isn’t it

I am sorry to hear.....one step, minute, hour at a time. It looks based on the info that you caught it early. Get in, out, done and keep moving forward...although give yourself the time to be rightfully upset. Sometimes being in the mental gutter helps to devise a plan forward if that makes sense

I am so sorry to read that you are both going thru this. You are both in my thoughts.

Hi Trish.. I was triple positive and 10 years 4 months later was diagnosed with a new primary in the other breast .
Yes I was very disappointed . .....I had a BMX ...CT chemo 4 cycles every 4 weeks back on Letrazole
Generic femara so far so good.
I wish you the best outcome and sending good vibes and hugs.

I wish you well, TrishE23.

Yep! Same here! Not a recurrence, but a brand new cancer! I opted for a mastectomy this time with reconstruction. Tissue expanders were so painful I just had them taken out last week at 5 wks post op. Much more comfortable now. Start chemo this week. This one has been harder on me physically and psychologically.

You're still a survivor! Don't count yourself out! I'm sure that it's very upsetting to get another cancer, especially TN. But chemo and surgery beat the first tumor and there's no reason that it will not work again. Good luck to you and know that we're all rooting for you.
And please, I'm glad that you told us. This kind of information helps people like me make decisions re surgery. After much vacillation, I finally decided on a BMX because I read about someone here getting a recurrence years later. Information is good.
