Micromet on sentinel node following path report after surgery

Options

Hoping this the right group to share with people that may have some insight. I started this journey back in December '18 thinking lumpectomy and radiation for small IDC tumor on right side was the only issue. Fast forward a few weeks and they find small ILC tumor on the left side pointing doctors towards mastectomy instead of dual lumpectomies. Had a little extra to spare in the belly dept. and went ahead with DMX and DIEP reconstruction at the beginning of February. During surgery, sentinel nodes on both sides looks fine. Send off for pathology and right one is fine but ILC micromet found on the left node. Did the OncoDx test and results for right came in at 15 and left came in at 11 so chemo will be out but they still need to manage the left side, either axillary dissection or radiation, both of which have side effects. Anyone deal w/ this after reconstruction was already completed?

Thanks.

I didn't have reconstruction (or mastectomy), but I did have a positive sentinel node discovered during my lumpectomy. They did radiation to the area and I didn't have to get chemo.

I had a TE placed bc the rads question was up in the air when I went in for surgery. So no to immediate recon. But I did have similar oncotype scores and same situation- nodes clear until after path report showed micromets. I did have rads and hormone therapy now. Good luck to you as you navigate through.

I had radiation three years after my tissue expander's and replacements were put in thanks to a recurrence in axillary. took a couple months but sure enough capsular contracture showed up pretty bad. To the point where after a year and 1/2 of no signs of recurrence again I went in and have the implant replaced. It's been six months and I have to keep up on my massaging I can feel a little bit of contracture coming back but not much at least my boobs look the same when very close.
