So I was assigned a radiation oncologist whose speciality is prostate cancer. Isn't that odd? Thinking about calling to change that. Doesn't it make a difference?

Hi Kelly. Yes, my advice would be to find an RO who specializes in breast cancer. There are so many options now (IORT, partial breast, proton, accelerated) plus decisions to discuss (prone vs lying on your back) I think you need a specialist. Once assigned you will see your RO twice a year so it's important to have an expert you trust.

Georgia1, Thanks for your input. I'm going to call on Monday and ask what the deal is and hopefully get in with the doc that breast surgeon recommended.
