BCO community and organisation - You talk We listen

There is a current running thread on providing comments about the proposed BCO site overhaul.

It was my starting point. That thread made me ask - what does BCO really do?

Well the moment I asked that - the question

What would we really like it to do for us ? was inevitable.

This is a bit of a work in the making. For me the three areas I had to deal most with since my diagnosis have been ( order matters because I believe we don't talk nearly enough about money and it's effect on our life when it comes to BC).

1. Money

paying for treatments, home budget, coping with work

2. Treatment

timely, appropriate, in line with needs and priorities

3. Keeping together ...myself, family, friends, not to mention work..Hoping to start a thread where everyone can contribute by sharing what they would like to see BCO be involved in, provide information on or help with.
Please mark each post with Money, Treatment, Keeping together.
Keep it as creative as possible and be honest about what is hard.

There are many other organisations that already provide help with many of these functions - still they are poorly tied together and occasionally to access easily or timely.

I am suggesting BCO becomes the - you talk we listen - a voice and connecting tool that allows us to piece it all together and be supported at times of crises, through recovery or chronic disease.

So let's have it...

What would help us ?

What have we learned that we would like to share ?

What would help others?

😊🌷

ok, no one has any thoughts on what we would want BCO - to do/be ?

Or maybe my tittle on the topic is putting people off...Or maybe I just muddled too many sentences.

    A silent majority

    Sigh....😊🌷🐣

    Money

Cancer poverty is an issue that gets too little attention. It's the elephant in the room, quite often. People lose jobs and advancement opportunities, strain family budgets, and run down their savings. Many never recover their previous living standards and carry this extra burden while they worry about recurrence. If you are late stage with this disease, you'll likely die poor.
