Drain site irritation months after removal

I had my DMX last May, got drains removed after 3 weeks. That was about 8 months ago but lately I have had irritation at the drain site on one side. No redness or swelling, just sorta stinging feeling like a fresh incision would feel like. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? What could possibly cause it and what might help? I hate to call my surgeon about it because he will want me to come in just to ask and we live a fair distance and I prefer to avoid all the sick people up there as well. (Flu is really bad here!)
