How do I help my husband? Stage 1 Wife

I am a stage 1 survivor. I had a UMX in 2010 and have been repeating mammogram or MRI every six moths on my remaining breast since 2010. Every 5.5 months my husband begins to worry himself to pieces about "what if's" What if the scan shows something, etc." He weights on him terribly, he worries about me so much.

I, on the other hand, feel very lucky to have such good surveillance and want the tests for added assurance or to catch something early and small.

Does anyone else have a worrier and how do they help others to understand that scans are a good thing?

Do you worry about scans? Do you get yearly MRI? I do have dense breasts.

Lola~I don't know if this will help your husband feel better, but I was told be a genetic cancer doctor at Dana Farber that with surveillance every six months, if there is a recurrence it still should be very treatable. It is scary for our families to deal with, but better to catch something when it is early than not to have the screening.

I also have extremely dense breasts and am on the every six month scan schedule (MRI and diagnostic mammogram). The first one post treatment will be in May, and yes I am nervous. I am happy, though to have the opportunity for twice a year scans, and am working on mentally going into it with a positive/nothing will be wrong with me attitude

It it funny, I just signed on the the boards here because I have my yearly mammogram on Monday and the fear in this house is mounting. Thank you CapeCodGirl for this info from Dana Farber. My insurance stopped paying for MRI this year, my 8th year, and my oncologist told me I was very lucky to have them this long.

I am 8 years out of diagnosis and back to just yearly mammograms.
