edited February 2018 in Waiting for Test Results

Up until today I've been pretty chill about my upcoming galactogram. Now, less than 24 hours to go, and I am FREAKING OUT. Can anyone tell me what it's like? I am just like a blubbering toddler over here, I'm sorry...

updating in case anyone is reading.

I have filed a complaint with the center that attempted to do my galactogram due to losing my requisition, telling me I would be having a biopsy when that was not the case, being unable to perform the test and not having the facilities to do different imaging such as an MRI (since apparently it's a common problem), calling the test obsolete as they performed it, and failing to use any alcohol or sanitizing wipe on me prior to attempting to insert the device.

My galactogram didn't fully happen as the radiologist couldn't get the needle into my duct. It was an uncomfortable but more frustrating than anything procedure. I am awaiting a follow up appointment to figure out next steps, as I have now had bloody discharge from one duct of one breast since mid December. If you are awaiting a galactogram and traveling far for it as I did, make sure you know what their backup plan is if they cannot insert it. This was a frustrating process and I am not sure what to ask my doctor to refer me for since I will NOT repeat the attempted test.

I'm so sorry you had such an awful experience - I would definitely write a letter to the center.

Were they able to biopsy anything at all?

hi momto3sons - thanks for responding. no, they were unable to do anything. Just squeezed and poked me for a while and then sent me on my way, saying they would write a full report. I was also irritated because when booking the appointment, I mentioned that the discharge only seems to happen at certain times of my menstrual cycle and they said that would not be an issue, but it was, they needed to see the discharge itself and I struggled to express it. Just nonstop misinformation. Yes, I filed a complaint when they called me to take a satisfaction survey!
