Losing my mind!
I feel as if I’m losing my mind....
Early January I found a huge lump in my breast, got into see my family doctor a few days later, ultrasound was done Jan 12, mammogram Jan 15. The urgent report didnt make it to my doctor until Jan 25, 2.5cm mass as well as 2-3 3-5mm spots on my lymph nodes. Birads category 5.
Wasn’t able to get in for a core biopsy until Feb 11 and its going on the 20th tomorrow and still no results. The doctor who did the biopsy put them in for a rush to be back to my GP for Feb 16 but nothing was available yet.
I’m 33 with a 3 year old son a husband who works out of two for 2 weeks at a time and i have a fulltime job. I have to prepare for treatment and waiting it driving me insane!!! Yes i have done my very best to stay positive and i really hope its negative but there is a pit in my stomach that tells me otherwise.
I feel so lost!

Oh Billster I am so sorry. The waiting around is indeed really horrible - we've all been through it. Are you in a rural part of the country? I ask because usually two qualified radiologists need to review and agree on a biopsy before it is considered final and released to you and your GP. You might also try asking your GP to nag the facility that performed the biopsy tomorrow. And do please ask for a copy of the report and, if you are comfortable, share the results with us. There are a lot of smart women here who will want to help.

Hi Billster84
I'm so sorry you are going through this. Waiting is the worst. Sounds like you should be hearing something really soon. Hang in there. I'm having surgery on Wed (Feb.21st) and then have to wait for the pathology to figure out next steps.
The women on this site are wonderful. Keep reaching out.

Billster,
I would be on the phone 1st thing in the morning to your GP and start being a squeaky wheel.

Hi Billster84-
We're so sorry you find yourself here, but we hope you know that you're not alone! We absolutely agree, the waiting is so hard. Please keep us posted on what you find out, we're thinking of you!

thanks everyone!
I live in Canada Northern Ontario which (thankfully) has a very amazing and advanced cancer center, so that’s a bonus if it’s positive.
The results are done on site by a pathologist, so they were not sent away to a larger city.
My doctor has called the lab, my mom has also left a message on every single pathologist’s voicemail.
When i saw my GP on Friday he said he would call me as soon as he got the report and was hopeful it would come in this weekend but still no call....

Hi Billster84
I can understand your frustration waiting for and obtaining Pathology reports. In my experience the surgeon or doctor who ordered the tests usually gets back to the patient with the results. I kept calling the surgeon's office daily after the promised date (they must have thought I was a pain), to find out whether the results were in. I found out some tests took longer even done on site because of the nature of the test. My results weren't back for 2 weeks. I hope your doctor can check daily for the test results and then get right back to you.

Bbccats There's a thread for one's having surgery in February where you can talk to others going through it at the same time. Feel free to pop in. Link.

That's quite a while to take for results. Even here in the states it's different everywhere, but I guess I'm lucky, on any biopsy I've never waited longer than 4 days. Id keep on squeaking also. it is nerve wracking and you just want to know either way. Keeping my fingers crossed you get the results tomorrow. Stay strong.

my mom made me go to the er to put some pressure on the lab.
Its cancer but has not spread to my lymph nodes (thankfully)
Waiting for a full path report
-
Billster, sorry to hear that it was not benign. You will be able to do this, though
While you wait for your full path report which will tell you exactly what kind of cancer *you* are dealing with,
Here is a link that will give you some great practical ideas of what you can do to get "all your ducks in a row". Things like folders for reports, making an appointment to see a dentist, a fax machine, etc etc.
Hang in there. The beginning is a whirlwind of info.

Hi Billster, sorry the news is sucky. I suspect things will now start moving quickly for you.
hugs
