Need your thoughts

Options
My husband and I saw my breast surgeon for a checkup. I last saw him in November. He is the best. I asked him about a spot of pain on my rib. It is the lower rib on my radiated side. Has been bothering me for a few weeks. Does not hurt when I move in any direction. He said it does not present itself as a met as it is tender. He recommended that I get in to my MO earlier than my March 14th appointment and a pet scan. Should I be concerned? I am only out if active treatment since Sept of last year, minus the letrozole.

did your doctor mention it could possibly be costochondritis? It is an inflammation in the cartilage between ribs - my doctor said radiation could possibly cause it. Perhaps that’s what it could be...or it could be from your surgery....I hope so. Sending good thoughts....

Thank you for your kind wishes. No he didn't mention that. It is on one of the lower ribs. I was really hoping he would say it is just some kind of inflammation and call it a day. Deep down I feel like that is what it is but moving up the appointment adds stress and concern.

    hi Annbee

I have the same issue wouldn’t say pain but tender or dull burn. Had a bone scan last April due to back pain and all was clear. When I reported this rib issue to my mo in November she wasn’t concerned she said sounded like costochondritis Sometimes I think they think we are hypochondriacs. It’s scary spending the rest of your life worrying.

Best to you and all of us

I had a bone scan about a year ago for pain in lower rib. It was clear. I am guessing it was from working out, but I’ll never know for sure. Either way, though stressful having the test, it brought peace of mind. Any pain lasting more than two weeks should be assessed. Call your MO.

Thank you Karen. The stress level is going down and you helped. I called my MO and waiting to here back. I am a teacher and I can’t use my phone during class time. I will follow through. It through me for a bit with the suggestion to move up my appointment. March 14 is around the corner in my book. I will keep you posted.
