So my mastectomy is scheduled and approved by insurance so I need advise on bras and prosthesis. Anyone have good luck with a brand or breast form. I want something that is comfortable and light weight. I will be fitted for my prosthesis at my post op appointment but is there anything you can wear shortly after. I know I can't have anything rubbing that area until I am healed. Just need some direction on what to buy since this is a go.

My best advice is don’t spend a lot early on because you’ll change your mind a lot as you get used to your new body.

I have tried nearly everything out there and my favorite remains a cheap Danskin- zip up the front, pocketed sports bra. Coobie makes a nice pull over the head bra - I think the model is 9060. My favorite “prosthetics” are formed pads that are 3 sets for $20 from Genie bras. I have actual mastectomy bras from Amoena and aqua prosthetics and expensive silicone ones also from Amoena but I only wear those if I’m going to be hugging people and want to feel “real”

I almost forgot the Amoena camis. I’ve got several colors

Best of luck with your surgery. It’s a steep learning curve figuring out what works best for you but you’ll get there
