Intramammary node positive no big deal?

I had my umx on December 15. After the pathology report came out we found out that I had an intramammary node positive (pN1a). My bs made no big deal of it basically saying it’s gone so all is good. My mo hasn’t even really mentioned it and with all my nerves and stress forgot to ask. My sentinol nodes were negative which is great. Just wondering if it should be made into a bigger deal then it was. Thanks

I had one as well. My understanding at the time is that it’s still a positive node- so not ideal- but that since it was not in the axillary chain I did not need radiation. So, while not great, it could have been worse

It caused me a significant amount of worry!

Good luck and keep us posted on what your doctors say.

Thank you for responding. It drives me crazy that the mo makes no big deal because they may deal with this all the time but for each of us it is our lives and scary when you know you have a positive node.

Getting CT and bone scan today. Keeping PMA as my dad always used to say. I know all will be okay!

Always worth asking, but my understanding is that it doesn't make the treatment difference that a positive sentinel node does. I had a positive intramammary and a positive sentinel node, and the only treatment discussion was based on the sentinel.

determined - I had one too. Do not google it! Nothing but outdated scary information! My BS considered it a non issue, but per official staging guidelines it is to be treated like a positive auxiliary node.

Regardless, I obsessed over it for months, so I understand how it can be mentally draining. Also, I found every mention of it on this forum and saw nothing worrisome- hopefully this saves you from some panicky research!
