Please forgive me for my ignorance. I have a friend who is all over me about eating eggs. She says they are full of hormones. I was dx 5 years ago with Ilc er pr positive. I metastesized to bone in Dec last year. I have Onj so I have to eat soft food. My main meal a day is grits and eggs. I have lost alot of weight so Im careless about what I eat. Im just trying to bulk up. Am I causing my cancer to be worse. I get faslodex injections every month. Thanks for any info

I have never heard anything about eggs being a no no.

In the US, poultry producers are banned from using hormones in chickens. Although some brands advertise that their eggs are hormone-free, in actuality all poultry is hormone-free, including eggs.

I try to eat only pasture-raised, organic eggs. They are more expensive but I figure they must be at least somewhat healthier...I make myself three eggs, but only use one egg yolk. I also throw in some frozen riced cauliflower, chopped spinach, and some turmeric - a very healthy egg scramble!!!

My oncologist told me to stay away from sugar. Cancer cells thrive on sugar. Eggs are fine because they contain great nutrients and protein. Hope this helps.

I'll qualify that I am vegan, but yes, eggs are not good to eat. If you focus on only the protein they are great little meals (I miss eggs the most, Hard boiled eggs were delish)

I have attached a link to a great website and searched 'eggs' nutrition facts is run by D greger. He has a great little video (that hooked me in to his work) but his website is amazing. All his videos are scoured so you can see the studies and information he is referring to. I feel you don't like the video he has a transcript underneath the video.

As stated above, no added hormones in eggs. Excellent source of protein, especially if your appetite is not great.

There is so much nonsense going around the internet, that it can be a full time job to sift fact from fiction.

I checked the nutritionfacts.org site referenced above. The articles about eggs and cancer seem to focus mainly on choline as a bad thing (because it apparently is associated with prostate cancer somehow). I also vaguely remember a study from way back that looked at diet and MBC. Apparently, women who managed to get enough protein generally fared better than those who didn't. I think you should continue to enjoy your eggs and grits.
