Diagnostics?

Does anyone know if all the diagnostic tests (MRI, blood tests again, EKG) have to be redone for a lumpectomy re excision? I had an MRI biopsy, and MRI wire localization because the tumor was small 5mm.

I know my MRI and biopsy were wrong on grade and size, so lumpectomy was the only way to know what they were dealing with. Mine was "supposed" to be 7mm but it ended up being 1.8cm.

I may be missing your question....did they already do a lumpectomy and not get clear margins? I can't imagine having all of those tests done again for a lumpectomy or a re-excision of the lumpectomy.

    Best to you.

    Hi Wallycat,

I already had a lumpectomy and the Nurse Practioner gave me incorrect information yesterday on the phone. I asked for the results of the Pathology report from the lumpectomy surgery and instead of sending me a copy or reading directly from the report; she decided that there were positive margins and that the surgeon needed to go in and do a reexcision. How crazy is that? So I began wondering how the surgeon would find the area that needed cleaning out and whether I'd have to get another MRI.

Surgeon met with me, lymph nodes all clear, and tumor clear margins. What a day.
