Hi, I have posted a few times here. I have been dealing with an insanely itchy nipple and areola, one breast only, for over a year. It doesn't bleed or scab, but sometimes the areola tissue is rough and flaky. I have been to the dermatologist, tried creams, had 3D mammo and ultrasound. Nothing. I went back to the dermatologist today, and given my family history of BC and the fact that this symptom has lasted for sooooo long, she recommended a biopsy. But I don't have an eroded nipple, the biggest symptom is the itching and redness which comes and goes. She told me that with Paget's there is often an underlying BC that isn't necessarily detected on an ultrasound of mammogram. I'm concerned because I understand that the biopsy can be somewhat disfiguring. I'm not sure what to do at this point, does anyone know how bad the biopsy is for this? Looking at my breast today, it doesn't look like anything is really wrong, although the nipple is flatter than the other side, but it isn't inverted. Am I making too big of a deal? I have to get this itching to stop, and I know I am paranoid about breast cancer too. I'm not sure what to do. Do Paget's symptoms come and go? AARGH. Appreciate any feedback.
