Ice therapy for sore mouth from chemo?

Chemo (Taxol) has caused a sore mouth.

Has anyone had any experience with ice therapy for any IV chemo eg sucking on an ice cube during the transfusion in order to prevent a sore mouth from developing?

I had both Taxol and Taxotere. Both times I sucked on cold things - ice cubes, popsicles, slushees, anything - and I had very limited mouth sores (only once, after a treatment where I wasn't paying attention and didn't suck on anything). For me, I believe it helped. I also used ice packs for my feet and hands to stave off neuropathy, and while I have a tiny bit, it's not bad and doesn't interfere with my life.

There's also a wonderful mouthwash your oncologist can prescribe called Magic Mouthwash, that can make a real difference if you already have mouth sores, too
