Very worried. Pain in right breast and discharge.
Hoping some of you can impart some wisdom. Yesterday I noticed that my right breast felt achy and sore when I brushed up against something. I hadn't noticed it hurting until that moment. I regularly feel around for lumps and never found anything of concern. When I got home from work last night I decided to feel around to see where exactly the pain was coming from. I found a spot behind my nipple and a little above that hurt when i pushed on it, almost like a bruise type feeling and it was tender. When I pushed on the spot that was tender clear discharge came out of my nipple and when I kept pushing on it a yellowish greenish discharge came out. Almost what it looks like when you have a sinus infection and blow your nose. That color. I then freaked out and started poking my other breast, squeezing and pushing down and no pain in that breast and no discharge. I then took to google and I have frightened myself that the only cause for this pain and discharge from one nipple is breast cancer. I got no sleep last night. I can't really feel a lump but I would describe it more like a hardness in that area. My breast has no redness, warmth, or dimpling. It looks normal. I called the GYN and I have an appointment for this coming Tuesday Feb 6th. I guess I just am curious if these symptoms can be something other than breast cancer? I am 36 YO female, I have two girls that I breastfed and no family history of breast cancer. My mom has fibroids in her breasts and has had discharge but she said hers was on both sides.Thank you for any thoughts or reassurance!

There are benign conditions such as intraductal papilloma that could cause such symptoms. I'd really try to stay off google. Most lumps turn out benign & there's no reason to think yours won't. Maybe plan out your weekend with lots of activities to keep you busy and occupied so you don't worry about it too much.

Thank you so much. I know that after researching on google I've definitely started to panic. It's just everything that I have read has said that unilateral discharge is definitely something to be concerned about. Aside from breastfeeding I've never had discharge from my nipples.
Tuesday just seems so far away to even just speak with a dr. However I'm taking your advice and trying to just enjoy my weekend. I brought my girls to the park and I'm trying not to think of the what if's.

Just curious if anyone here has had yellowish discharge with pain?

Not sure anyone is even reading, just wanted to give an update. I went in for my appointment and the Dr could not find a lump in either of my breasts. She did notice that the spot that is tender for me is slightly harder than the rest of my right breast.
When she pushed on the spot a bit of the yellowish discharge came out. It's not really yellowish green now but more yellowish creamy. She said since the area is not as tender for me and when it is pushed on now and there is so much less discharge coming out that perhaps it is a blocked duct. Last week it was so much more painful and when pushed on it was literally dripping out. She did say there could be several different causes of my symptoms. I asked her if she thought it could be breast cancer causing this and she said she can't say no just by a physical exam. Which of course just made me worry more because some part of me wanted reassurance that it was something benign.Which I guess she was trying to reassure me when she mentioned the blocked duct Haha!
I also mentioned to her how run down and unwell I have been feeling. I am not sure if it is related or it has been the stress of the last couple of months while I was waiting for a biopsy on my cervix. That came out benign. But I have been very stressed and especially now with these issues with my right breast.
She has given me a referral for a diagnostic mammogram and an ultrasound of both breasts. I am just waiting for the scheduler to get back to me. For some reason in all of my google research, I can't find anyone talking about this kind of discharge from one breast.

Hi Rubie,
Sorry you are having this problem. An intraductal papilloma could be the cause of your discharge. I think they are pretty common, probably much more likely a papilloma than cancer. And they only cause discharge from the duct they are blocking. Good luck!

Thank you bew66 for your thoughts. That is what the previous poster mentioned. I guess I have just freaked myself out because I was reading about it being more sinister if discharge was coming from just one nipple and duct.
I am really really good at worrying and I am trying not to jump to the worst case scenario. Especially since I haven't had a single imaging test done yet.

Hi Rubie I think the most concerning discharge is bloody discharge. Try not to worry until you get the tests done
