I'm not diagnosed. I'm worried. I feel certain in my gut something isn't right. So far I have had a clean mammogram, an MRI (bi-rad 3) that showed what they think is an intramammory lymph-node, and blood work that came back fine for a few types of markers. I had a skin biopsy at my derm and it came back as viral. (I had a rash but it's gone).

I have an appt with a breast specialist tomorrow and I have an ultra-sound on Friday so they can get a closer look at the 3mm area of enhancement that is "likely benign." (According to MRI)

My symptoms are pain, itching, and a dent. The itching comes and goes but I feel pain in my breast daily. It extends into my armpit. I have what looks like a dent in my left breast. It is in my areola and just above. I feel nothing in my right breast. It feels normal.

My mother is a bc survivor. She had multifocal carcinoma. My great aunt (mom's side) had inflammatory breast cancer.

I will be pushing for a deeper biopsy. I need peace of mind.

I'm only 35, so of course, it can't be cancer. It hurts, so it can't be cancer. But...what if it is?

justcallme, so sorry that you're here worried about bc. A BIRADS 3 mri is a really good sign that you don't have bc. It is known for false positives, not missing things; so I would try your best to remain calm as you wait for your BS appointment. BIRADS 3 has a positive predictive value of less than 2%, meaning that less than 2% of BIRADS 3 findings are malignant. Best of luck!

Thank you for your reply! It helped me feel better. Also, good news, I saw the breast specialist today and she is fairly certain that I'm totally fine! I love how breast knowledgeable she was! haha. She still wants me to have the ultrasound b/c I am young and I have dense breasts. And she wants to keep an eye on me b/c of family history and what not.

I'm in sooo much pain! Swelling is not going down at all. Hurts all down my left arm.

I had some complications when I went to get my ultrasound. The PA I saw set it up at the hospital the clinic is at, it's so small that they only can do them on Wednesdays. When I get there I'm told that they aren't allowed to do breast ultrasounds and I first have to have a mammogram than ultrasound. I guess because of birads. I still had the axillary areas checked bu to hey didn't have be one orders for the clavicle. So now more waiting. It wouldn't be nearly as bad if I wasn't in so much pain. I take med to helps some but not enough. ANy suggestions would be great! Also my breast is now warmer than other. And having shootingpains up my neck from collar bone to my head.

From your descriptions, it could be a nerve or muscle or even dental issues that are causing collarbone to head pains. Most likely you are not looking at breast cancer, even though you are having pain. Most women don't report pain as a symptom.

Here is a snipit from an online source about causes of breast pain:

We often associate pain with something wrong, so when women feel tenderness or pain in their breast, they often assume it to be breast cancer. However, breast pain is rarely the first noticeable symptom of breast cancer. Several other factors can cause the pain.

Clinically known as mastalgia, breast pain can also be caused by the following:

the doctor said that I may have nerves being pinched, it feels like the mass in my axillary is pulling. Also lymphoma is another one she is checking for. I was laying done when I wrote that on wrong post. Lol it's been a long day. Thanks for your reply

I think it's wise, given your family history and the fact that you have dense breasts, to get as much testing as possible and keep pushing the drs to know as much as you can.

There have been women diagnosed as young as their 20s, here on this forum. It's actually becoming more common (I have my own theories about that, but that's for another discussion.)

But yeah..my surgeon told me a breast MRI is about 99 pct accurate.

A mammogram and ultrasound missed the 2nd tumor in my right breast--it was 9mm.

I had my ultrasound today and I was able to see the lymph node in question. The doctor said it looked perfect. My mammo was clean and the MRI was great except for the lymph node in question which was thoroughly checked today. The breast specialist is going to see me in 3 months. Everyone is basically keeping an eye on me because of my family history. I think I have exhausted every avenue, except a biopsy. But I guess for now, that's fine. I feel less worried. I hope my breast will stop hurting soon. That would be awesome, too.
