Hi everyone. Thanks ahead of time for the support.

Here's what's been going on:

2016 - Mammo - benign findings but there was a increase in breast density is both breasts. I had started Prometrium 6 months prior and lost a little weight, so changes were attributed to that. Now have heterogenously dense breasts (was scattered areas of fibroglandular), mostly upper middle and outer quadrant. Left breast US for some unexplained pain. Nothing found.

February 2017 - 3D mammo - no changes.

September 2017 - had a sore on my nipple that I tried to self treat for a month but didn't heal.

October 2017 - Had a great dermatologist who took the sore seriously. Had surgical wedge biopsy with benign results. Also had a diagnostic mammo and targeted ultrasound. The radiologist did the ultrasound around the nipple and the areas of my breast that were heterogenously dense. BIRADS 1

Early December 2017 - Experienced pain and a localized swelling in the very upper portion of my left breast. Localized tenderness in the upper inner quadrant, too. The localized swelling felt like a bruise almost but no discoloration. PCP said wait a few weeks and if it didn't resolve go for imaging.

Late December 2017 - The swelling went away but tenderness remains. Went back for imaging. My PCP ordered bilateral ultrasound. Went ahead and did bilateral mammo since my annual was due soon. The tech said they would only do a targeted ultrasound on the breast of concern despite my PCP's order. I requested a whole ultrasound (per order) and she refused. She said "we don't do that, mammo is still the gold standard." I almost asked then why has legislation passed in my state and many others requiring density reporting laws but bit my tongue.

US was negative again. Radiologists came in and asked her about ILC. She rubbed the area where I had been swollen (didn't do BE) and said, "When I've felt lobular, it's hard. This feels soft to me.

My discomfort and tenderness continues and my nipple has been sore and tender for the last 3 weeks. I'm wondering if the nipple soreness is from my scar from the biopsy and it's just the regeneration process? The tenderness does seem to be on the scar. My left breast is slightly larger and little heavier than my right but not sure if it's always been that way. I also have had an increase in stretch marks in the upper outer quadrant of that breast and an increase in visible veins. No dimpling, they look like the stretch marks on my right but just visible and more of them.I don't feel any thickening or lumps. My left breast feels slight thicker overall than my right but no lumps or localized thickening.

I have an appt. with a very respected breast surgeon in 2 weeks but not sure what I should ask for? I'm thinking thorough exam and whole ultrasound? I doubt unless something is palpable and with negative imaging I would get approved for an MRI, especially without family history and I'm not "extremely dense."

Sorry for the long post. Any feedback is appreciated.
