Accidental burn to previously radiated breast

Oh boy. I haven't been here for a long time. Just had my 4-year mammo; everything's fine. But. A few days ago, I suffered a scalding accident with some boiling pasta water. It will be fine. Just second-degree burns, and healing nicely. Biggest one was on my thigh. However, there were two burns, about two inches long and an inch high each, one on my breast and one immediately below it. I have been getting my burns attended to by a wound nurse, and she says it's all coming along fine. I did notice a couple of days ago that the burns to my breast are healing, but not like the others, and they were not the worst. They are white, and I sure hope that doesn't mean two large patches of white, permanent scar or keloid as opposed to the smooth fading red we expect from this severity of burn. It only occurred to me now, a week in, that this is the breast that was radiated after lumpectomy. Does anyone know if this skin will heal/scar differently or needs different burn treatment? I don't think this nurse knows much about radiated skin, though I will ask her tomorrow. She is in the plastic surgery department and works with those docs. Any experiences or advice?

Yuck, what a hassle to go through! I think with radiated skin it just takes longer to heal. But I am not sure. Hopefully if your wound care nurse doesn't know she can reach out to someone who does. And even if it doesn't heal pretty, it'll be ok!!
