The hospital network I use has a patient thing where you can see tests results. Today some more of the results of my biopsies finally showed up so now I know at least the type and grades. I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma is both breasts. The left breast has one spot and is grade one. The right breast has two spots with one spot being a axillary lymph node and is grade three. I thanks to this site know this is the most common type of BC. I am a bit concerned about the lymph node involvement. Still don't know any hormone stuff yet sure hope the surgeon has that information. I have read where others know that the same time that they find out the type and grade hope I don't have to wait until after surgery to find this out as I want to know now as I know it is so important in the battle plan.

Welcome Amburt! You will probably find out an estimate on your grade and stage prior to surgery, but after surgery, that is the biopsy that is most accurate. Your status can also change if you happen to get chemo before surgery.

Try not to worry too much about lymph node involvement. It's best not to have it, but having it doesn't mean doom and gloom. There are plenty of women on and off this board with lymph node involvement that live very long healthy happy lives.

Hi there and sorry you are dealing with this. The facility where you had the biopsies done should be able to email the reports to you, but it may take an extra couple of days to get the ER status. That information, plus tumor size and family history, can help you get that "battle plan" together. You might also want to make an appointment with a surgeon at a second hospital for a second opinion; you have time and it made me feel so much better.

Getting a second opinion is not a option for me my insurance will not pay for me to go to any other hospital. Plus I really trust the doctors I am going to. I am already involved with this hospital system with cancer. I was diagnosed endometrial cancer almost two and half years ago which meant a complete hysterectomy. There is another major hospital for the area in town and another cancer center they both rate very good.
