Bad Mamogram

Hi all,

I’m new to this group, and I’m greatful I found it.

I’ve been getting Amani’s for 17 years now and everyone has been fine, until this year.

I was called back in this week for the magnified X-rays of my left breast. After the films I was taken to another room and they showed me my Miami’s from the past 5 years and they were all clear, but this last one was lit up like a Christmas Tree. They said the spots, which there were 25-30 of them, we’re calcification, and schedualed me for a biopsy this Tuesday 1/30. I asked what they meant by “Calcification” and they basically said it’s kind of a generic answer right now.

My question is how fast do these “Calcifications” develope and why so many? I wouldn’t be so worried if there were a couple in my past mamos, but they were clear. I can’t find any answers to this question.

I do have a sister that had breast cancer and my Dad had cancer shortly after my sister went thru her treatments, also grandparents and cousins with cancer.

I’m pretty freaked out right now.

Thank you for these sites Djmamo and Moderators. They gave me a bit more in site. The question that’s bothering me the most is how fast do these “Calcifications” develop. Like I said before all of my films for the past 5 years show NO Calcifications at all,just this last one. I’ve faithfully have gotten my mamo every year since 2000.

so today was my biopsy, not the most pleasant thing to go thru. So now the 7-10 day wait.

The Dr did answer my question about the Calcifications, he said about a year to year and a half for them to form. That gave me some piece of mind.

Will keep you updated with the results.
