Has anyone else here had an MRI-guided biopsy? I have one coming up the morning of Tuesday 1/30/18. I had an MRI last week and it showed an area that matched what was seen on the mammogram, so we're on to this step now. At least I should finally have an answer by Friday 2/2!

    Hi momto3sons,

I had 2 MRI guided biopsies last year. The first one found Pleomorphic LCIS. The doctor said there was a 45% chance something invasive was "hiding" so the recommendation was for a 2nd biopsy. My radiologist performing the biopsies was wonderful -- answered all my questions, showed me the areas of concern on the screen and was very kind and considerate.

The 2nd biopsy showed Pleomorphic LCIS, but nothing invasive. I got a 2nd opinion. Both opinions recommended mastectomy which I had.

I was nervous about an MRI guided biopsy, but what helped me (because I wanted to know every step of the procedure) was to watch several u-tube videos so I would know what to expect.

    Good luck to you!

Thank you so much for your response! I hadn’t thought about YouTube videos - great suggestion! The nurse I talked to today was great with giving me lots of information. I’m just glad to be getting closer to answers

Hi there. I had an MRI-guided biopsy as well. It's essentially another (shorter) MRI, then an injection for pain, then another needle biopsy once you're good and numb. I was able to drive myself to the radiation facility and drive home with no problem. But because I hate needles I had the techs jibber jabber and distract me with small talk through the whole thing.

Best of luck to you - one more step in this crazy journey and putting it all behind you.

Thanks Georgia! The nurse mentioned I’d be okay driving but one of my girlfriends said she’d take me. She’s been offering to help at every turn, so I’m taking her up on it :
