Broken ribs 2 years post rads

Hi there everyone!

I recently learned that ribs can become very brittle post radiation. During my first attempts at reconstruction my expander on the radiated side failed to expand properly due to thickened skin and caused me excruciating pain- which I complained to my doctors about, but fell on deaf ears. I ended up scrapping the implant idea and had a tram flap instead. Shortly after that surgery I had a gallbladder attack, and a CT given for that reason discovered that my recently removed expander had broken 4 ribs in a row. I wasn't a complainer before, so it would have been nice to have been treated with concern- but instead I was treated like I was an addict just whining for pills, and was given nothing. That's my rant for today.... this whole experience sucks so bad. At least I know I wasn't just being a crybaby! I thought maybe I was!
