6 month check---what should I expect???
Hi, going in Monday for my first mammo since dx and follow up with oncologyst on Tuesday for "results". Ya...6 month anniversury. I'm not sure what to expect. I see a lot of people talk about tumor markers....should I be expecting that? Or ask if not automatically done? I have only met this doctor once, so I don't really know him. So with that, I want to make sure he is doing what he should be, but I don't really know what that is.
My first mammo in my life went from imaging to ultrasound to 5 biopsies all in 36 hours.....all I see is daja vu.
Looking forward to getting it over with, but don't want to look back and wish I had requested something to be done.
TIA

Every MO is different. Mine doesn't do tumor markers, just routine blood work. At my check-ups, I fill out a sheet which asks about a range of symptoms and conditions. Then, the oncologist comes in and does a manual check-up. She asks about how I'm doing on my medication, and that's it.
At my first mammos after treatment, the radiologist immediately looked at my scans, just in case she wanted to order an ultrasound to take a closer look. Now, my scans just get in the cue, and the radiologist looks at them later. Good luck!

Thank you Elaine!

I don't get any blood work at the checks...it's a physical and breast exam and we discuss meds. That's it!!

My MO initially ran bloodwork but now feels PCP should do it. So they do. (I think someone should be running ye old bloodwork.) No one seems to want to do tumor markers because I guess they aren't terribly reliable at early stage. Physical exam (I had BMX) always and the standard questions. How am I doing, sort of deal.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

mammo done...waiting for ultrasound. Wounderung if this is PTSD feels like. Hahaha
Sucks seeing the fear on faces around you and not knowing if should hug them or let them sit in peace. It’s going to be ok....regardless of results!!!
That’s for me as much as everyone else sitting in their how. Trying to be interested in the magazine.

Hi everyone...I'm being treated at a major NYC university hospital. I only see my breast surgeon every 6 months fro a physical exam of my foobs and axillary area. No blood work or labs. I do not see an MO since I'm not taking an anti hormone.
