I had an excisional biopsy for focally SEVERE ADH and to lesser extent ALH nine years ago. Three months later a mri showed that an abnormal region of enhancement of 3.2 x 1.4x 2.3cm of clumped enhancement remained present post excision . Mri guided biopsy showed columnar cell change with atypia but NOT ADH for that area left. A repeat excision was recommended on the MRI report after that biopsy but my surgeon said he cannot take more tissue from my small breast. I do not have any history of breast cancer in family but my surgeon said i'm high risk because of the ADH. Now I've been having clear mammos and my last mri said that even the segmental clumped non mass enhancement continues to DECREASE in CCONSPICUITY since prior studies. I have scattered fibroglandar tissue and moderate background parenchymal enhancement. I believe scattered means I do not have very dense breasts. I am very worried about having these yearly iris with contrast for nine years now . I've read that there is being research done on the long term effects of the contrast agent accumulating in your brain and bones. Am I really that high risk that I need the yearly mri for the rest of my life. I am 59 years old now.
