I am freaking out

I am freaking out my MO just called me with the results of the CAT scan with contrast that they did a few days ago. They found lesions /spots On my lungs clavicle and pelvis. So now I’m scheduled to go for a bone scan on Tuesday and he said they’re going to biopsy my pelvis but they didn’t give me a date for that yet. They’re postponing my chemo treatments for the breast-cancer until we know if these lesions are and what we’re dealing with

I’m sorry to hear the test results. Anxiety is the hitchhiker we carry with us with any stage of cancer. I was diagnosed with a bone met from the beginning and it is scary but 1) only a biopsy can prove mets and 2) you will feel more in control once you have a plan.

Forgive me for questioning but why didn’t your doctors order scans before surgery?

Please update on the results and don’t google bone biopsy, it looks scary as shit but wasn’t, I never felt any pain during the procedure, best of luck :)

@illimae Should my doctors have scanned me before the lumpectomy??? I had my annual mammogram , few days later was called back for a second one and US. Few days later got a biopsy followed by surgery healed from that found out I have lymph node involvemenl and will need Chemo last week had my port put in last week, got a heart echocardiogram and the ct with contrast... Got a call from the MO yesterday telling me about the spots/nodules on my pelvis lungs and clavicle and that he’s seen sending me for a bones scan and scheduling me for a bone biop

I can’t say what “should’ve” been done but I was given a referral for a surgeon after my biopsy too but chose to go to MD Anderson and meet with an Oncologist first, she had the full set of scans done before staging me. In your case, without a known positive node and small tumor size, there may have been no reason to suspect mets but I also think some docs rush the surgery. Now, I did have a biopsy proven bone met to my hip but also a non-met spot on my scapula (shoulder) and benign nodule on my thyroid, so these findings could be nothing to worry about :)
