    Hi Debsmisto,

I was diagnosed with HER2+ cancer, too. Yes, it often means neoadjuvant chemo, and Herceptin for a year. It's a long haul. But, thanks to targeted therapies like Herceptin, the prognosis for HER2+ patients is about the same as it is for other breast cancer patients.

It's best to take things one treatment at a time and not look too far down the road. Before you know it, active treatment will be over and you can figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life. ((Hugs))

Hi Deb and welcome to Breastcancer.org,

We're so sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but we're really glad you found us. You're sure to find our amazing Community an incredible source of information, advice, and support. We're all here for you!

While HER2 status does play an important role in your diagnosis, you should know that there are medicines that are specifically made to target HER2 positive cancers. You can learn more about treatment of HER2 positive cancers on the main Breastcancer.org site's page on HER2 Status.

We hope this helps and we look forward to hearing more from you soon!

I was really thrown when I heard it was HER2+ because I was having a hard enough time just hearing "cancer" and "stage 2" to boot.

I had NAC and was lucky enough to have a pCR - no cancer after chemo! It was hard at times but manageable. You just have to keep plodding along and, before you know it, you're done.

Take a big breath and hang in there!
