I had the much awaited surgical consult today. The surgeon is recommending lumpectomy since the size of the cancer is 5mm, is not deep in the breast, and no indication of lymph node involvement ( will have a sentinel node biopsy), feels the cancer can all be removed with good margins, no indication of a tumor in the other breast. If I was eager to have a mastectomy he would do that surgery but I'm really not. He said radiation to be considered after surgery and reviewing the surgery biopsy results.

It was interesting that this surgeon determined that the tumor was not a result of my BRAC 2 mutation due to not being an aggressive tumor and some other criteria that I can't remember right now.

Found out more biopsy results: ER+ 95% of cells, PR+ 30% of cells, and Her2 negative. Grade 1? I have a pre-op appointment on Monday.

More problems possibly on the horizon as I had a pelvic ultrasound today, there's fibroids, some fluid which is new from my last one. The official report isn't back yet. I don't know much about this stuff.

I have to wonder if I'm really in menopause since I never had any symptoms and I seem to have a lot of hormones, enough to be ER+ 95%, growing fibroids that I never had when younger. It's been 10 years but something seems strange to me.
