Why is this used? Is it only for lumps that can't be felt? Mine only showed up on MRI, does that mean I'd have to go back into the MRI machine for this?

Hi I felt my lump... and after my Mamo, 3dsono, and biopsy I had the wire placed IN CASE the mass was cancerous all in the same afternoon..... I got there at 1 and left at 430.

Two days later I got that call.

My surgery was 22 days after and that tumor and wire were taken out together..

The way it was explained it was placed as a guide for the surgeon to remove it and all tissue surrounding ..

Vitazaa, thanks for writing back. I have to have the wire, then sentinel node mapping, then surgery all in the same day. So I guess I won't be keeping the wire for a long time-good.

Did anyone have an MRI wire localization? I'm wondering if it requires getting contrast dye again? My tumor only showed up on MRI but a marker was put in so maybe I don't have to go back into the MRI machine?
