So I found a lump about 3 weeks ago. It feels like one of the super bouncy balls at about 5 o'clock on my left breast. It's painful. I was thinking it was a cyst, but had my gyno check it out. She sent me to a breast care clinic to see a specialist. They did a 3D mammogram and I was told that everything looks good, but that I have "very very dense breasts" and that nothing showed up where the lump is. (and yes, they can feel the lump). The doctor then decided to ultrasound it. He said it is most likely a "ridge of dense breast tissue" and that I should come back in 2 months for a repeat ultrasound. Ok. Here's my question....when will the lump and the PAIN go away. Daily, it feels like someone punched in the breast and now I'm getting shooting pains into my armpit and my nipple. It's not a cyst....he said it's just fibrous tissue that formed a ridge. I asked him when it would go away and stop hurting...he told me menopause. (I'm only 39...that's a ways off). Can I really expect this ridge to hurt and be this large for THAT long??
