I’m worried my lump is growing before surgery

My mastectomy is scheduled for two weeks from now, but after all the tests (second lump biopsied, genetics, etc.) I will be a couple of months from diagnosis. I swear I can feel the lump growing. Mind you, I was very swollen after the biopsy (two months ago now), and I wonder if some has to do with cyclical changes. However this is really stressing me out. I have kept my composure for the most part but this is bothering me.

Did anyone else have this experience? If so, how did it turn out

That happened to me too. It is unnerving, but you'll have surgery in two weeks, and that will take care of it. During surgery they will get all the final measurements and information they need to best treat you. Have you mentioned the growth to your surgeon? Your surgeon might be able to offer some reassurance too. Best wishes to you!

Thank you for the reply!!I haven’t mentioned it to my surgeon no. I will have a hard time getting a hold of him before surgery at this point. I could mention it next week to the blunted in pre-op. I did voice concern to my surgeon when my ultrasound showed he mass at 1.5cm and they a few weeks later the MRI at 1.8cm. He assured me then it wasn’t growing and was a difference in measurementt technique and equipment resolution. I suspect he’d say something similar now scour it not growing. Only two weeks! :)

Hi there TC. I felt like that as well, but it turned out it was just the soreness from all the tests. And yep, the MRI technology makes any mass seem larger than it really is - so not evidence that it's truly growing.

I do hope you can keep busy with other things for the next two weeks. HUGS and best wishes to you,
