My breast cancer has metastasized to my bones...

I am 40 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer in Oct. 2014. I had a right breast mastectomy in Nov. 2014 and because of low risk reoccurrence per mammoprint I was placed on Tamoxifen with no further treatment. In Jan. 2015 I had a re-occurrence on the same breast that was removed in Oct. 2014; tumor was removed and I underwent radiation. Fast forward to Nov. 2017 tumor markers come back elevated at 51 my oncologist opted to wait 4 weeks and repeat blood work. Tumor marker had again rose to 62 and a pet scan was ordered; today I received the news that my breast cancer had metastasized to my bones. I have been told to stop the Tamoxifen and I am scheduled for a Biopsy of my right hip on Wednesday. I am in shock and beyond scared, my life has been dedicated to work and helping others I finally found the love of my life and we were married on Dec. 23 2017 and 3 weeks later this. What do I do now? What is my best course of treatment

Hi roseann, sorry that you find yourself here but you have come to the right place. Come on over to the bone Mets thread. Lots of good advice and you will see that many of us are doing well. I am almost 3 years out and stable.

roseann, I understand your fear ; I felt that, too. I was diagnosed stage iv from the start with metastases to several bones. That was in early 2011, and I had the "big" treatments that first year followed by daily medicine and have been stable since that time. You might be surprised at all the life I've packed in to these past 7 years and still going. Many ups and downs but definitely embracing it all and always moving forward.

But no doubt, it was very scary at first. I worked with my nurse practitioner to find the right anti-anxiety medicine which was a huge help. I learned to see this as living with mbc, not dying from it. It takes awhile to wrap you head around it. I suggest you look for threads on the stage iv forum that give advice to newbies of mbc. They contain is so much good advice and insight.
