Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with tnbc stage 2 in November of 2016. I did 4 rounds of cytoxan and adriamycin, then 12 rounds of taxol. Then surgery (lumpectomy) and radiation followed. Anywho I was wondering about menstruation. The chemo stopped my cycles completely within 1 month and it started back 1 month after finishing radiation. Everything normal. Well this month I have had two cycles. Is this normal? I am having a hypochondriac moment thinking there is another cancer present. I just need some insight.

Hi -- congratulations on finishing your treatment. I was diagnosed in March 2016 at age 33. I did 4 AC and 4 Taxol, followed by lumpectomy and radiation.

My period came back about a month after I finished radiation (so about 4 months after I finished the taxol).

Because my tumor originally tested weakly negative (16%) but the triple negative on the oncotype, my oncologist put me on Tamoxifen because studies show if it's even 1% positive, it is worth it. (I only mention that because it is a difference in our post-treatment experiences).

But anyway, I had the double cycles happen a couple times. The first time it freaked me out (along with good old Dr. Google who had me convinced I would get uterine cancer from the Tamoxifen), so I decided to ask my oncologist for a gynecologist recommendation -- someone familiar with treating breast cancer survivors. I got a full exam, expressed all my concerns, etc.

I think it's normal after such a major disruption to still have random problems (along with the fact that our hormone levels can change as we get closer to 40), but you should probably consider going in to see an GYN for your own peace of mind!

I hope this is somewhat helpful! Good luck!
