Husband/Wife with DCIS at the same time, same breast.

My husband and I have both been diagnosed with stage 1 DCIS within 4 months of each other. This is also in the same breast (right side) We have also been been tested for genetic predisposition and are both negative for brca mutations. Being that the cancer is so similar we are worried about how this could have happened at the same time and if we should be screening for other cancers too. Oncologist explained that it's just Bad Luck. Does anyone else think there is cause for further investigation here? None of the doctors seem to be concerned. We are about to look for an integrative oncologist who isn't bound to traditional screening protocol dictated by what insurance will and won't cover. Does anyone have experience with the integrative side of cancer treatment? Any input/opinions are welcome. Thanks

Welcome SupBort. I know two other cases of husband and wife bc. As to the why both, I’m not sure you’ll ever get a straight answer to this. Meanwhile it’s best to get on with the treatment plans as you are doing.

What are the diagnosis stats for you both? It’s easier for people here to comment once we know this. Rest assured, though, that you’ll get plenty of support here, and being a bc guy you can be assure I’ll do my best to help in his case too.
