Issues with Tamoxifen and Zolodex after endometrial ablation.
Hi Lovelies,
A few years ago I had an endometrial ablation for heavy periods. I still get a light period because my uterus is a total jerk! Obviously this was pre breast cancer. I am currently just about to start rads and will be having Tamoxifen and Zolodex after I recover from that. I was curious has anyone had issues with their uterus lining on these meds after an ablation. I asked my Med Onc about it but he didn't really seem to know if it would be an issue. He said they don't usually screen the uterus during treatment so I've got an appointment with my GP to get a referral for a baseline ultrasound as a precaution and will have more while I'm on Tamoxifen. How often should I get ultrasounds? Will I be more likely to get uterine cancer because I've already burnt the crap out of my uterus lining? I already have "weird bleeding" because of the ablation so I'm not sure how I would recognise unusual bleeding on the meds. I have tried googling but couldn't find any info about this. I'm a bit nervous I'll end up with a hysterectomy. ![]()
Thanking you all in advance ![]()

I had an ablation about 12 years ago. It didn’t really work, and I continued to have periods, though they were lighter. When I started Tamoxifen I visited my gynecologist and she did a baseline TVU. I was on Tamoxifen a couple years and having periodic gyn checks. The uterine lining was getting pretty thick (around 3 cm) so I opted for surgical menopause and had my ovaries removed at the same time I had a D and C. I switched to an AI. Due to AI issues I went back to Tamoxifen after ten months, then began having post menopausal bleeding and even more gyn visits. Finally I just ask the dr for a hysterectomy.
I had a total open hysterectomy last Feb. I was in the hospital one night (my choice). I had lifting restrictions for a few weeks. Other than that the surgery was a non event. I should have done it years ago. Not crazy about the oophorectomy but the hysterectomy was very positive for me.

Thank you @farmerlucyfirvall that. I think my Med Onc would like to remove my ovaries eventually so that may be in my future too. How did you find the side effects for the surgical menapause? Do they fade like regular menapause?

Surgica menopause is rough for me. I still have a lot of hot flashes after nearly three years AND I’ve been off hormonal therapy since last April.

I'm sorry it's been so rough for you farmerlucy
I'm a bit scared to get it done.
