had tumor taken out of left breast and had the tram flap reconstruction done they also took three lymph nodes all clear and the whole area looked clear to the surgeons. It has been about two months since surgery and now they are telling me because it was a very aggressive cancer they want me to have chemo and radiation. I had full body scans, bone scans everything clear so I’m very apprehensive about having those treatments. Also since they removed a few lymph nodes from under that arm a few weeks ago I had a sinus infection with fever and my arm was killing me where the nodes came out....after the antibiotic pain went away. Anyone else have this experience

Hi Aluklan! Your doctors are recommending the standard of care for triple negative. Since your tumor did not have hormone receptors, chemo - surgery - radiation are your biggest weapons. There is a possibility that there’s a microscopic cell or two floating around and a scan will not be able to pick something so small up. I think you’ll find that most people on this site with triple negative have done exactly what your doctors are recommending. ☺️

I agree with Olive. Also, sounds like maybe you had an infection at the node site? I had one that caused pain, fever and night sweats and antibiotics cleared it up. It did postpone my chemo.

Guidelines for chemo can be found at the NCCN website. I believe any TN tumor 1cm or over, regardless of node involvement, chemo is suggested.

    Good luck
