Reconstruction after mascectomy using thigh skin graft

I had the surgery nearly eight weeks ago now and the consultant told me he would have to go really deep into my chest wall to make sure he got it all out and that i would need a skin graft to cover the large area, and to be honest the leg skin graft was as, if not more painful than the actual operation I also had to have a vac drain fitted for the first couple of weeks, I wasn't brave enough to look at my scar when I had the dressings changed but last week when I was discharged from the dressings clinic I saw it for the first time I was told I would have to keep moisturising it myself and I can tell you its not a pretty site and the surface feels hard to touch. My consultant as told me if I would like reconstruction that it would probably be best using the skin from my stomach, I am a youngish looking 67 year old and wasn't even considering reconstruction but as this scar is so horrible to feel and look at it I may even consider this now. I would just like to know anyone's thoughts on is it worth going through another operation or any regrets if you have !
