Bad News from Core Biopsy

I met with the NP this morning, and I've been diagnosed with Invasive mammary carcinoma, lobular type. I'm totally freaking out and frustrated and everything inbetween. There is an urgent referral to Surgical Oncology. The Immunohistochemistry results that are back say: SMMHC Negative, and E-Caherin Negative and other tests aren't back yet. Since I'm BRAC 2 the NP suggested a double mastectomy however I need to speak with the surgeon. I guess I need the options spelled out to me before making any decisions.

I'm sorry that you received this diagnosis. I do hope they will be able to schedule the appt with the SO very soon so that you can get some more info and a plan of care.

Thanks for all your replies. What makes it worse is that I just reached the one year mark recovered from Melanoma, and I thought I would finally have some time away. UGH.

Oh Veeder, I'm so sorry. I had a melanoma 30 years ago and thought I had done my "cancer time," but here I am again. It stinks.

Thanks to all. The surgeon has the referral, hopefully they call today to schedule my app't. Waiting around just makes me more anxious.
