I was diagnosed with breast ca in October 2014. My surgery was the same year in December. I completed chemo & radiation therapies in 2015. Since then I have been prescribed letrozole which I take each night. I see my oncologist every 4 months (it was more often but I graduated). I had blood work done in December 2017 and the value from that particular test was slightly elevated above the normal mark. The last time I had this particular blood test was in 2015 after my surgery & that number was 26. This time it came back 39.1. What’s the deal with this test

Thoss markers are not used by many doctors because they are notoriously unreliable. Inflammation can cause them to rise. Do they plan to follow up somehow

Dear KBeee,

Thanks for responding. I am scheduled to have an IV w/contrast CT scan of my abdomin/pelvis & thorax on Tuesday, 1/2/18. So I am hoping those tests will show a false positive.

glad they're being proactive

My Onco uses them aa says their a window into more formation and a tool to help them. Thry look for upward and consistemt changes in the trend line.
