Hi all...my 70 year old mom was diagnosed with Stage 1, grade 3, IDC,no cancer in 26 tested lymph nodes. She opted for a bilateral mastectomy in November. She started treatment today: weekly Taxol for 12 weeks, Herceptin every 3 weeks for 12 months. She has a great attitude and is determined to kick cancer's butt. Anyone been a caregiver for asimilar treatment plan? All advice appreciated!

Hi Joie, my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 from the get go. She started off with Taxol and when she got medical financial assistance a month after she started Taxol, she started herceptin once every 3 weeks. She just end her 12th taxol treatment and will go for ct scan next week. The doctor is planning to continue with herceptin once every 3 week and depending on ct scan results, start her on hormone therapy (pill).
