Trouble understanding the results

Hi, I'm new here and I've read through the keywords and other materials but I'm still having trouble understanding where my results fall.

Currently I'm scheduled for a repeat mammo in 2 months.

Report: left breast heterogeneously dense, may obscure small masses

Lobulated nodule 6 mm size ( originally they thought 10 mm

Ultrasound says it does not demonstrate to be solid or a cyst

Birad 3

And I've had increasing pain in the area. The Dr described it in the same category as a lymph node hurting and it's not uncommon.

I am trying not to worry and I've been trying to push it out of my mind, but I like many need to understand what this means.

Maybe you should ask for a biopsy, if it is cancer I would want it gone ASAP.

Soph, I think you can relax a bit. A Birads 3 rating means "probably benign" and they're not supposed to classify it that way if there's anything suspicious. Here's something to read; tho it is a bit wonky it explains lobulated and nodule, and related medical terms.

The two-month follow-up seems right given that you have dense breasts in some places. Wish you all the best.

update: results came back exactly the same. Inconclusive, still have abnamoralty on mammo but can see anything on ultrasound with density. Tech thought she saw shadowing.

BS decided to come back in 6 months to repeat.

Fast forward 2 month I was at an appointment for an old hernia repair. I ran it by my dr the results since he happens to be a general surgeon and specializes in breast and he is going to do a steretactic Mammo.
