Lobular Tumours larger than 6cm?
Just curious to know how many there are out there with a tumour larger than 6cm and actually how big it is?
Mine is 8.7cm, all margins and nodes clear.

They never got a sure fix on mine, but it was above 6cm. I think they estimated it at 7-8. Wasn't as lucky as you with the nodes, but I am still here

Although mine was on the smaller side (still traveled into nodes, though ;( ), I think a lot of ILC (because of the way it grows and hides from scans) tumors are often larger than those for IDC before they are detected. I'll bet that you'll get more responses, but also remember that a lot of us have moved on (post bc) and there may be lots of ILCrs that could answer your question but simply aren't on these discussion boards any longer.

Iwas first diagnosed with IDC...now the second path today says invasive lobular. I feel like I am on a roller coaster.
My tumor is 11cmx 7 x 4. I havent found anyone on here bigger. I am a nervous wreck and have had many pity parties. I pray it has not reached my nodes or has metastasized. I have not started treatment yet but have been told it will be chemo then mastectomy.
Bless all of you with health!

Don't jump to conclusions. You really don't know anything for sure yet, right? No matter how big our tumors were and what stage we were, all of us felt the same way when we first found out we had BC. It really sucks and it turns your world upside down, that's for sure. All I did was cry and shake. My primary doc finally prescribed Zoloft so that I could function. I ended up having a BMX and was fortunate that it was caught so early and was Stage 1A with no lymph nodes involved. But you know what? Cancer is cancer. We are all in this together.
Take a deep breath. You are strong and you will get through this. Sending you hugs and lots of prayers. Keep us posted

my tumor was 8.5 and was in 3 nodes. They measure it before as 4.5 . i had bi lateral and reconstructive on Dec 14th. I see the onogolist Mon Jan 8th to see if i do chemo which i think i will

mine was 7 cm. After lumpectomy a small margin of cancer was left. Plus 4/5 nodes positive a sample. So now on the 23 I have to go back in more surgery. I’ve decided on masectomy and they will remove pad of nodes. I’m so nervous. Today they did ct chest abdomen and pelvis it was clear 6 months ago when I was diagnosed just finished 6 months of chemo. I’m terrified it may of spread in that short time

Cenok. One of my many lumps was described as hockey puck size stuck into Chestwall. Invasive Stage 3 grade B. They weren't sure if it was in one node or not due to chemo maybe shrinking things. That's was 2004. I look after my body, try to eat right, exercise like crazy. Still here, got to see my kid grow up and graduate. You will also . That size they will give chemo(to shrink big tumor so they can do surgery ) I had rads then surgery last. One day at a time girl. Your gonna make it.
My old girlfriend is about 40'years survivor with tumor that engulfed whole Breast.

Mine was 10 cm but with lobular, it was three smaller tumors connected by stuff in between, so they count the whole thing which is unlike IDC which is usually one mass. My nodes were clean and margins clear but some lymph vascular invasion. Looking at treatment now as one onc said ACT and the other is doing onco test as she is looking at it more closely. Some research says that lobular doesn't react to chemo but better to anti hormonal therapy, but if they say chemo, that's what I'll do.
-
jay. Yes mine was lobular to with Ductal smaller tumors also. Yeah chemo didn't shrink hockey puck much.
Usually anything larger than 5 cm they will do chemo first. Rads, surgery. Meds.
They think my tumor was ten years old.

i have/had a 7.3 cm tumor. Having chemo first so I won't know node status till surgery (yay should be about 2 months from now
I had an mri just before Christmas, shortly after I moved from dd ac to weekly taxol and herceptin perjeta and taxol every 3 weeks. The tumor has shrunk so much it's no longer visible on mri. So yes Ilc can react to chemo! Mine hates it and went away
. At first they didn't think it was which scared me. But I was so happy about the mri results! I don't know node status yet. But whatever was growing in there, I hope willbe dead by the time I have surgery! Then just to be safe I'm having radiation of chest wall, arm pits and neck.
I didn't think I could do this when I started. But I am hanging in there!Tomorrow will be treatment #13 out of 16 total Chemo infusions (counting ac).

Hope this helps. I had a 12cm cancerous area as they described it (just about my whole breast) which apparently was like a spiders web. Initial diagnosis was lobular but after mastectomy was a mix of IDC with lobular features, ILC, DCIS & LCIS. 9 nodes still positive after chemo which I had before mastectomy. I had an oophorectomy about 10 months after radiotherapy and have been on an Al ever since. I am coming up 7 years from diagnosis in March and very healthy and happy.

Mine was described as similar to Jaydub9425. 3 lesions — a total of 7+ cm — but not a solid mass of ILC. I had 4 rounds of chemo prior to double mastectomy. Surgery in late December. Stage IIIA — 7 of 12 nodes were positive (NOT the result I was hoping for), but the margins are clear. Now I have 4 more rounds of chemo and then 7 weeks of radiation. Finding out about cancer in the nodes was hard. So is dealing with post surgery swelling and trying to prevent or mitigate lymphedema. Just feels like A LOT. But, I like hugz4u's attitude! Gonna put on my big girl pants and get busy!

Mine was over 7cm with IDC aspects and many positive nodes. Having done surgery first who's to know if the chemo is keeping anything that might be left over at bay. I did ask a re-biopsy of the cells in the nodes to know if it was ILC or IDC and has been defined as ILC which I guess is better because it is more responsive to the hormone therapy.
My May 2017 mammogram showed nothing. The Oct 2017 3d one was perfectly clear of a huge problem.

Hi. My lobular tumour measured about 10cm on the MRI. My medical team all said the likelihood of having no lymph node involvement was very low. I had chemo first, but there was not a trace of cancer left when I had surgery.
-
My was 13 by 8 cm. 1 out of 10 nodes was posıtıve. I dıdnot do any chemotherapy. just mastectomy , radıatıon therapy and then hormonal therapy
-
Mine was 9cm Stage 2. The mammogram and ultrasound missed it for years. Thank goodness it was a slow grower. My gynecologist is the one who caught it. When I asked why I felt a mass they told me it was dense tissue. I have been very fortunate, no chemo, and I just had my mastectomy Jan.16, 2018 and only one node removed and it was clear. I do however have to do some radiation in the coming weeks.
-
may i ask why you didnt do chemo?
-
i maybe able to uplift uou here. My friends is 12cm and zero nodes affected, she had an oncotype and it came back as 8, so no chemo
-
Mine was 8cm in total, it was multi-focal and consisted of 2 tumours- one 5cm and the other 3cm. 2 nodes positive. Grade 3.
Originally had surgery first because they thought it was smaller. Got clear margins and then chemo, rads and hormone therapy.
Couldn't believe how big it was, especially in my B cup. Had mascretomy, couldn't wait to just get rid of it. It wasn't mine anymore.
-
My ILC tumor was reported to be 11cm. June 2018 will be 4 years NED for me.
