in 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. No history in family, must be because of the pill used for ten years in 70’s...or hormone replacement during menopause’s? Anyway it was a surprise. Stage one, lumpectomy...opted for no radiation since I was 74...just anastrozole. I thought I dealt with it very well...but my nervousness is growing as I near my first mammogram following surgery. Anyone else feel anxious on this anniversary? Also just decided no alcohol.read alcohol increases estrogens and my tumor was estrogen fed.

I think pretty much everyone feels anxious around the anniversary of their cancer diagnosis. Especially when it's time for the next MRI or mammogram. Try your best to keep your hands busy--busy hands will keep your mind from perseverating.. If your anxiety is overwhelming perhaps you might benefit from a short course of Xanax or Ativsn to see you through.

I'm six years and six mammograms past diagnosis. Everybody who has been diagnosed with bc has anxiety over scans, but it lessens a lot over time. I have also followed all my doctors' recommendations, so am not dealing with that uncertainty.
