My mammogram was normal but my ultrasound was BI-RADS 4. A solid lump of 1 cm and of increasing viscosity was seen. I had my needle aspiration this morning and the aspirate was a thickish fluid with blood. Its been sent for testing. The lump didn't disappear after aspiration but it collapsed significantly. Does the blood in the aspirate mean cancer? Would appreciate any inputs as I am all nerves waiting for the results.

Thanks

Hi there. I can't answer your question but did the radiologist say they were going to send it to pathology? Please try not to worry. Yep easier said than done I know. A nice distraction would help some. Last week I was diagnosed but they were not able to aspirate my mass. In my heart of heart I knew it would be cancer. Was still takenback hearing the news but just had a feeling it would be.

The results if sent to pathology should take 72 hours give or take weekends into consideration. Mines was done on a Wednesday and I received the results on a Monday. So try not to worry and relax. Positive thoughts and hugs for you.
