How do i know if it's actual menopause.I completed my treatment in 2012 stopped periods after the second chemo of FEC/T..on tamoxifen since... had bleeding once in March 2016 due to hyperplasia...no sign of spotting or bleeding since.Do I need to think of contraception.I forgot to add I am 46 years old....Yeahhh me

    Yes, you need to think of contraception. At 46, you would be considered pre menopausal, based on age. As a precaution, you should use contraception, especially if you are taking and want to take Tamoxifen. I am a few years old than you, and I had to worry every, single year, until I had a hysterectomy/oopherectomy (my choice.) My obgyn would do transvaginal ultrasounds every year, to count the eggs on my ovaries. My sister had a child at 41.

    Chemically induced menopause could be reversed later on, when your body adjusts to not being on Tamoxifen. No sense taking risks, unless you want a child.
