Taxol chemo for TNBC. Worried...

I am in my second week of Taxol chemo. I read some reports that Taxol shrinks the tumor but can fuel mets. I would rather lose my whole breast than have mets! Has anyone else seen this research and did you ask your doctor about it?

I wouldn’t ask my DR about this article because it is misleading. I can find a dozen more like it and an equal number to refute it. At this point in time, you are receiving the best available care - your medical team wants you to live. This doesnt mean research should be abandoned or things should not change, but when you google and find articles like this one on a site that is very anti chemo you have to be careful.

Please don’t think I’m being dismissive - I just don’t want to see you get yourself upset and stressed over a study - I’ve also gone it!

I am TN and am on DD Taxol. I've discussed a similar study with my oncologist at Sloan Kettering. She convinced me not to worry about it. These studies aren't being done long term on human patients with breast cancer and there is no real evidence to support concern.

I hope that makes you feel better - it did for me.

Thanks all. I bought it up with my oncologist. She said it was based on a mouse model and she has not seen this in humans and in her experience Taxol has great clinical results in her experience and she specialises in early stage TNBC. I feel reassured
