Waiting for biopsy results - still very sore after 4 days

I had my biopsy done last Thursday (4 days ago) and the site is still very sore, some shooting pains also. I'm wondering if this is normal. I didn't have any bleeding, swelling or drainage and it doesn't look infected. I go back in 3 days for my recheck and to talk about my treatment plan. I am really not looking forward to being examined again with this pain, especially since the lump is painful to begin with. I'm trying so hard not to be a baby, but I'm failing miserably.

I think it is perfectly normal to still be sore

Thank you. Also, does anyone have any advice on what I should ask when I call in to get my biopsy results? I know I should probably make a list so that I can be prepared.

Hi there Lemonee. Pain from a biopsy is normal, so feel free to take Tylenol or whatever painkiller your doctor recommended. And if they recommended ice or heat, try that too.

Planning for the call on the biopsy results is a good idea. My radiologist just said "it's cancer" and my brain shut down! But I called back and got the desk to email the report to me, which was really helpful. I'd advise you to do the same.

The top-line info you need is of course if it is malignant or not. Be prepared also to carefully write down the "alphabet soup" thrown at you: you will want to know if it is IDC, ILC or DCIS, and approximate size of the mass, which will be in centimeters or millimeters. Wishing you benign results and less pain.

Thank you. That's great advice too about emailing the report. I will definitely ask for that.
