Liver mets or Benign Hemangioma?

Hi to all, I am 51 years old diagnosed with stage 2b IDC, grade 3 her2 positive. And did mastectomy. Then 2days after my surgery I did an ultrasound and there said in my liver that:

"The liver size is within normal with smooth contour. It has a span of 13.2 cm. The intrahepatic ducts are not dilated. However, there is a solid lesion noted at segment 6/7 of the right lobe measuring 3.8 x 3.7 cm. Background of moderate diffuse fatty infiltration is noted."

I am very confused and what i am thinking is if this is a sign of mets, then why the size of this lesion is almost the same as my removed tumor of 4cm? Is that how fast it can grow from my breast into the liver upon my stage 2b diagnosis? I did mastetctomy only 1 week after diagnosis and found 4cm breast tumor and after that, an ultrasound result with my liver that has 3.8cm lesion? Thats really fast

I also didnt have any pain or vomiting or appetite loss.

Any one on this forum have likely the same ultrasound result but a benign lesion found?

I have not personally, but do know people who have. I would call your doc tomorrow and ask what the plan is to assess this. Keep us posted. Hoping it is something benign.

the liver lesion didn’t just appear since your diagnosis. It’s likely been there awhile. Yes it could be an hemangioma or even a fatty spot. Or it could be something more concerning. MRI is typically the next step. Biopsy could be done but they worry about bleeding if heamangiona and seeding if it’s cancer. My MO told me that they can now diagnose CA in the liver from MRI now (of course they can’t tell you what type. Good luck and try to stay calm!

I will. I struck out yesterday getting my follow up MRI-my veins kept collapsing (likely due to dehydration since I was NPO for about 12+ hours) and they couldn’t do the test without the IV contrast. Trying again Wed.
