Painful seed placement to guide surgeon

am I the only one who had a tough time with the seed placement? It was the worst yet. One and a half hours in the mammogram machine and I just sat and cried for the first half hour. It was yesterday and today I am a little dizzy. It doesn't seem like this should have been done without general anesthesia. They went In from the side for a half hour then decided to try going in from the top. I still had a small hematoma from the biopsy six weeks previously. Is this all normal?? My dcis is right behind the nipple.

I had a similar experience with the seed placement prior to surgery. I had to have two placed and I joked with my surgeon that the seed procedure was worse than the surgery itself. Getting the seed in the exact location can be difficult. Sorry to hear this was the case for you and I hope your surgery went well

Maybe location makes a big difference? My seed placement was a piece of cake.

agree. Defworse than the surgery. I'm still black and blue from the seed placement. Not surgery.

What is the seed placement?

radiologist puts you in mammogram machine and inserts wires to pinpoint dcis. Then inserts radioactive seeds into your breast to guide surgeon to exact location. Can be done several days prior to surgery.

Hi Everyone, I’m new here. I had my bilateral mastectomy on 11/14/17. I had the seed placement the same day of surgery about 2 hours before. It was very very painful, 4 needle placements right near the nipple. I opened my mouth so wide without screaming bu it was worse than the surgery.

I hear that. Yes. Worse than surgery for me as well. So very difficult. There must be a better way. Glad some women have no prob. But for me it was Uber bad. Good luck to you!!! Sending good thoughts
