Hormone therapy

i am 60 years old and just had a double mastectomy due to invasive ductal carcinoma stage 1 thank god. My question is am I able to use vaginal hormone creams for vaginal dryness. I had my uterus removed in 1999 due to fibroids but still have my ovaries. In the past my doctor told me no to hormone therapy due to cancer family history but I wondered if now I can use it since I had this surgery. Thank you!
